Zeus Islet
DESCRIPTION

A fast downwind sail takes you south of Kefalonia, just half a mile from the shores of Leivatho where lies the islet “Zeus”. On that small island in antiquity there was an altar dedicated to Zeus which was built in order to face a bigger altar with the same name on top of Ainos mountain.

A hundred carved steps lead to the small dock of the peninsula and the church of Panagia Diotissa. Its celebration takes place on the second of July and this is a good opportunity to visit it then since the locals organize excursions to the location. During the English occupation the island was an exile spot for clergymen.
